Description	:	Age 7 months and 13 days. At some point in time as dusk was beginning to settle over the Guttenberg community, someone in the Blodgett house had unthinkingly paced seven month old Verna on the floor near to a table on which a kerosene lamp had been lit. Tragically, the lamp was sitting on a tablecloth that was in reach of the little girl's hands, and she somehow managed to tug on it enough to cause the lamp to tip over onto her and explode, severely burning almost instantly the entire lower half of her helpless little body. Tragically, the lamp was sitting on a tablecloth that was in reach of the little girl's hands, and she somehow managed to tug on it enough to cause the lamp to tip over onto her and explode, severely burning almost instantly the entire lower half of her helpless little body. All was done for the little girl that limited medical knowledge of that time could do to try to save her but the prayers of the Blodgett family were not answered and little Verna Blodgett passed away three days later on the morning of the 15 day of May, a victim of a tragic accident. Little Verna's funeral was held at the Blodgett home with Rev. Janzig from St. John's Lutheran church in Guttenberg presiding.
