Stratford Courier April 29, 1926 V.E. Lundquist Victor Edward Lundquist, son of Jonas and Hannah Lundquist, was born in Marion township, Hamilton county, November 9, 1882. He passed away at the family home about six miles east of Stratford, April 20, 1926, at the age of 43 years, 5 months, 11 days. Death came following an illness of but a very few days and was caused by plural pneumonia, flu and blood poisoning complications. He had lived in this community all of his life and on December 18, 1907 was united in marriage to Annette Matilda Sealine. Four children were born to them, all of whom are living. Those who survive are: the bereaved wife, Conrad Edward, aged 17 years; Marie Dorothy, aged 14 years; Eldred Rueben, aged 12 years and Doris Annette, aged 4 years. He is also survived by two brothers, Godfrey and Theodore, both of whom live in this community; and five sisters, Mrs. Tilda Thompson of Kirkland, Wash.; Mrs. Emma Skagerberg, of Blue Earth, Minn.; Mrs. Selma Textrum of Ames; Mrs. Minnie Carlson of Minneapolis, Minn. and Mrs. Hulda Benson of Manchester, Minn. He is also mourned by a large number of friends and neighbors in the community. Deceased was one of the prominent farmers of this community and he was held in the highest respect by everyone who knew him. He was a director in the State Bank of Stanhope and held other positions of trust and honor. His sudden passing just when he was in the prime of life was a sad blow, not only to his immediate family, but to his hosts of friends. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 1:30 from the family residence and at 2:00 o'clock from the Christian church at Stanhope, and were conducted by Rev. J.W. Williams of Gladbrook, assisted by Rev. L.G. Randalls of Stanhope. A few well chosen remarks were also made by G.H. Dick of Stanhope. The large number of beautiful floral tributes attested to the popularity of the departed. The pall bearers were: Charley Andrews, Charley Berggren, Cliff Ristrim, Theo. Carlson, Charles and Fred Johnson. Interment was made in the South Marion cemetery. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mrs. E.W. Skagerberg and son, Clarence, Blue Earth, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Textrum, and sons, Ames; Mrs. Gothard Carlson, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Harry Benson, Manchester, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Westrum and Victor Westrum, Lake View; A.C. Westrum, Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Egnell and daughter, Boone; Mr. and Mrs. A.M. Jones, Eagle Grove. Card of Thanks We desire to sincerely thank the neighbors and friends for all their many kindnesses and assistance during our recent bereavement in the death of husband and father: also for the singing, the beautiful floral tributes and to the pallbearers. Stanhope Sentinel May 6, 1926 Obituary Victor Edward Lundquist, son of Jonas and Hannah Lundquist, was born in Marion township, November 9, 1882, and grew to manhood in the community where he was born. He passed out from this earthly life at his home, two and one-half miles southwest of Stanhope, Tuesday, April 20, 1926, at 9:30 p.m., having reached the age of 43 years, 5 months and 11 days. Mr. Lundquist was united in marriage to Annettie Mathilda Sealine, December 18, 1907, and to this union four children were born. All of whom are living. They are Conrad Edward, 17 years of age, Marie Dorothy, 14 years of age, Eldred Rueben, 12 years of age, and Doris Annettie, 4 years of age, whom, with the wife, are left to mourn the departure of the father and husband. The parents preceded the deceased a few years ago, but of the family group there remains 2 brothers, Godfrey and Theodore, of Stanhope, and 5 sisters, Mrs. Thompson Kirkland, of Washington, Mrs. Emma Skagerberg, of Blue Earth, Minnesota, Mrs. Minnie Carlson, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mrs. Selma Textrum, of Ames, Iowa, and Mrs. Hulda Benson, Manchester, Minnesota, who as well as a host of near relatives and friends will miss him because of his happy genial disposition for he was a general favorite of all who knew him. Mr. Lundquist always took an interest in the life of the community in which he lived. At the time of his death he was a member of the State Bank of Stanhope, Iowa. His death came as a blow to the community. He was sick but five days with plural pneumonia, following an attack of the influenza, but which was hard to fight due to the fact that blood poisoning resulted from an infection in his hand. Funeral services were held Friday, April 23, with brief services at 1:30 p.m. at the home, and the public service, at 2:00 p.m. at the church of Christ at Stanhope, Iowa, conducted by Rev. J.W. Williams of Gladbrook, Iowa, assisted by Rev. I.G. Randells, the minister of the Church of Christ. Rev. G.H. Dick also spoke a few well chosen words. A quartet, Mr. and Mrs. E.G. Fardal, Mrs. E.J. Johnson and M.E. Fardal sang at the church service. Burial was made in the South Marion cemetery. The pall bearers were Theo. Carlson, Chas. Andrews, Chas. Berggren, Cliff Ristrim, and Charlie and Fred Johnson. A large floral tribute was made by friends and relatives, as a silent memento of the sympathy expressed for the family, and the deep regard in which the beloved one was held in the heart of those whose place is made vacant by the passing of another of earth's stalwart young men who was but in the prime of his life. Card of Thanks We wish to thank, kind friends and neighbors, who so willing assisted us during the illness and death of our dear husband, father and brother.
