(Pease ) Black. She came to Colorado when she was 10 years old and lived in the Rifle area since then. Vivian married Ira Langstaff June 25, 1931, at a campground on Rifle Creek. Langstaff, age 94, of Rifle, passed away April 13, 2006, at the E. Dene Moore Nursing Home. She was born Jan. 23, 1912, in Howard County, Kan., to Otto H. and Emma P. (Pease ) Black. She came to Colorado when she was 10 years old and lived in the Rifle area since then. Vivian married Ira Langstaff June 25, 1931, at a campground on Rifle Creek. Vivian and Ira were ranchers and lived on Rifle Creek and West Rifle from 1941 until 1974. They stayed on the San Martino Place until 1983. They retired to Rifle because of Ira's health, and lived in Rifle's Senior Housing. After Ira passed away in 1991, Vivian stayed at the senior housing facility until she went to E. Dene Moore Nursing Home in August 2005. Vivian was a lifetime member of the Rifle Creek Home Extension Club, and a member of the First Christian Church and Women of the Moose. She went through all the chairs of the Moose Lodge and served as Grand Regent. She was the director of the Rifle Creek Museum, which was the old Austin School House. She and other citizens had the old school moved across from the Rifle Golf Course, where the museum became property of the Rifle area. Later the old school was moved to Silt, where it is today at the Silt Historical Society Museum. All the contents of the school were moved to the Rifle Museum. Vivian was with the board of the Rifle Museum until 2005. She volunteered over 20 years for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. Vivian always put family first, and loved her kids and grandchildren, and was a friend to all. She is survived by sons Kenneth Ira Langstaff, of Grand Junction, Raymond (Elaine) Langstaff, of Rifle, and Wayne (Linda) Langstaff, of Glendale, Ariz.; daughters, Vivian (Howard) Mathers, of Grand Junction, and Pearl (Wayne) Jewell of DeBeque; sister Roberta (Harold) Gustafason, of Battleground, Wash.; brother, Robert "Bob" (Jean) Black, of California, 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Monday morning, April 17, 2006, at the Rifle Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 17, at the First Christian Church in Rifle with the Rev. Dene Johnson officiating. Vivian's grandchildren will be pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Rifle Museum in Vivian's memory.
