He passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2006, at his home in Lake Placid, Florida. On January 8, 1952, Walter & Roma Marjorie (Way) Swanson, of Lyons, were united in marriage at Sioux City, Iowa. Walter farmed east of Lyons for many years. First helping his father and then on his own farm. He was a life-long hunting and fishing enthusiast. Going was born January 31, 1915, in rural Lyons, Nebraska, to William & Matilda (Zanger) Going. He passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2006, at his home in Lake Placid, Florida. On January 8, 1952, Walter & Roma Marjorie (Way) Swanson, of Lyons, were united in marriage at Sioux City, Iowa. Walter farmed east of Lyons for many years. First helping his father and then on his own farm. He was a life-long hunting and fishing enthusiast. After Walter retired, he and Roma traveled throughout the United States, visiting nearly all fifty states. They also traveled internationally. They would spend the winter months in Florida and summers in Nebraska. Walter was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Lyons, where he served on the church board. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers and two sisters, his wife, of 47 years, Roma and stepson, Charles Swanson. Left to honor his memory are his son: William R. Going of Lake Placid, Florida; stepdaughter and son-in-law: Sandra and David Rasmussen of Bradshaw, Nebraska; daughter-in-law: Susan Swanson of Chatsworth, California; stepson and daughter-in-law: Val and Janet Swanson of Lincoln, Nebraska eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. FUNERAL SERVICE: Wednesday, December 6, 2006, 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Lyons. BURIAL: St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Lyons VISITATION: Tuesday 1- 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 - 8 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Services Lyons. Visitation will also be held Wednesday at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church Pelan Funeral Services
