Beatrice Newspaper clipping: Obituary. Warren G. Elwood. Warren Grant, son of Edward and Louisa Elwood, was born at Vinton, Ia., March 27, 1864. At the age of 15 he came with his parents to Gage county where they established their home in the Kilpatrick neighborhood west of Beatrice, where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage with Helena Shottenkirk December 24, 1887, and to this union three children were born, Willet E. of Beatrice, Harry, who passed away in 1906, and mrs. Lucy Richards, who resides at home. Besides the sorrowing wife and children he is survived by six grandchildren, two greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Fred M., of Willard, Colo., and George H. of Kansas City, Mo. One sister, Mrs. Lottie Hill of this city, as well as a number of other relatives and a host of friends. One brother, Clarence, preceded him in death. For the past six weeks he had been confined to his bed and despite the loving care and all that medical science could do he gradually failed until the end came at 3:30 Sunday morning, February 11, 1940. Mr. Elwood accepted his Lord in 1893 and joined the United Brethren church. After that congregation disbanded the family united with the Congregational church. In July, 1938, he in company with the other members of his household placed their membership with the First Christian church where they have been most loyal to all its services. The deceased held a number of responsible positions in his church relationships. He shall always be remembered for his constant faith and hold endeavors in behalf of his Christ. He had been affiliated with the local Woodmen of the World for over 40 years. For 37 years he had been a dependable employee of the Dempster Mill Mfg. company of this city. Most of his time was spent in the foundry department. Mr. Elwood was a kind and loving husband and father, an earnest and loyal neighbor, a faithful and sympathetic friend, a workman who never slighted any job, but above all he was a most sincere foller of his Lord. During his illness he bore his suffering uncomplainingly. There is general sadness in his passing. Funeral services were held at the First Christian church Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by his paster, Rev. R.B. Fouts, and burial was in Evergreen Home Cemetery.
