He had a stroke of paralysis in July and has been very poorly since, having been confined to the house most of the time. The last stroke came last Thursday, from which he never rallied; but death found him ready, and during all his illness he was cheerful and ready to go if called. Read More	Stratford Courier April 13, 1893 DIED W.W. McKINNEY At his home in Stratford, Ia., April 8, 1893, W.W. McKinney, aged 80 years, 1 month and 3 days. He had a stroke of paralysis in July and has been very poorly since, having been confined to the house most of the time. The last stroke came last Thursday, from which he never rallied; but death found him ready, and during all his illness he was cheerful and ready to go if called. Father McKinney has lived in this community so long that comment is unnecessary. He was a kind husband, affectionate father and good neighbor. Besides his wife, he leaves three sons and four daughters and a host of friends to mourn his loss. Washington W. McKinney was born in Felicity, Clermont county, Ohio, March 5, 1813, and died April 8, 1893, of paralysis. He emigrated in 1839 to Burlington, Iowa; was married to Martha A. Everheart, of the county of Des Moines, territory of Iowa, the 14th of August, 1845; came to Hook's Point in 1852 and pre-empted land; removed his family to his pre-emption in 1855 and lived there 28 years; moved to Stratford ten years ago, and lived here up to the time of his death. In early life he professed the Christian religion, receiving Christ, the way, the truth and the life. His walk has been consistent. The funeral services, conducted by Rev. Hawn, were held in the Methodist church Monday afternoon, and the remains were interred in Oakwood cemetery, Hook's Point. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thank you to abbylynn (#47205881)for sharing Washington's obituary.
