Description	:	SALEM - Wendell D. Dunn, 77, of Salem, Ohio, died at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at the Essex of Salem II. Born Feb. 2, 1936, in Alliance, Ohio, he was the son of the late Robert Seth and Genevieve (Ovington) Dunn. Mr. Dunn was formerly employed at Airfoil Textron in Walled Lake, Mich., Bluffton, Ohio, and Lima, Ohio locations as an engineer. He had also worked at Cincinnati Milling Machine. Read More	SALEM - Wendell D. Dunn, 77, of Salem, Ohio, died at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at the Essex of Salem II. Born Feb. 2, 1936, in Alliance, Ohio, he was the son of the late Robert Seth and Genevieve (Ovington) Dunn. Mr. Dunn was formerly employed at Airfoil Textron in Walled Lake, Mich., Bluffton, Ohio, and Lima, Ohio locations as an engineer. He had also worked at Cincinnati Milling Machine. Wendell was a 1954 graduate of Salem High School, graduating third in his class. That year he received the Bandsman of the Year Award. During his freshman, and junior years of High School he received the Marie Burns Award. He graduated from Purdue University in 1958 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He also earned a master's of science degree from Xavier University. While in college, he toured Germany with the Purdue Varsity Band. He was also a member of the Purdue Marching Band and Concert Band playing baritone in Concert Band. He continued to play trombone and baritone horn in various bands until about 2000. Wendell was a member of the Ohio National Guard for six years. He was also an avid motorcyclist who enjoyed traveling and tinkering with his motorcycles. He was a member of the Salem, Ohio, Bluffton, Ohio and Northville, Mich., First Presbyterian Churches. Before his illness he was a member of several Masonic Lodges and two shrine bands. He was a member of the Shriners Band in Cincinnati and Detroit and was also a member of the Quaker City Band in Salem. His wife, Lois Ann (Weirick) Dunn, whom he married Oct. 14, 1986, survives him along with his daughter of Michigan, and a stepdaughter. Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert and Genevieve Dunn; and a brother, Robert O. Dunn. Private services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at the Hope Cemetery Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Meta Cramer officiating. Burial followed in Hope Cemetery.
