He departed this life at the age of 96 on January 13, 2019. Wilbert was educated at Chester Public School and graduated in 1939 at age 16. After school he worked on the family farm until he was drafted in 1945 and served with the US Army in the Philippines and Japan. Read More	Hebron Journal (Hebron, NE), Wednesday, January 23, 2019 Wilbert Earl Crouse, son of John Sebastian Crouse and Alta Harriet (Thomas) Crouse, was born at home in rural Chester, on August 21, 1922. He departed this life at the age of 96 on January 13, 2019. Wilbert was educated at Chester Public School and graduated in 1939 at age 16. After school he worked on the family farm until he was drafted in 1945 and served with the US Army in the Philippines and Japan. Upon completion of his tour, Wilbert returned to the family farm where he worked until his retirement in 1988. On August 15, 1954, Wilbert was united in marriage to Jean Davenport in Chester. Seven children were born to this union. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John; sister, Ruth; two young brothers; and an infant son, Larry. Wilbert will be greatly missed by his wife, Jean of the home; daughter, Sally (Kevin) Singer of Mifflinburg, Pa.; son, Warren (Cheryl) of Kinston, N.C.; son, Lynn (Marilyn) of Hutchinson, Kan.; son, Philip (Amy) of Salina, Kan.; son, Jim of Houston, Texas; son, David (Dawn) of Pine Bluffs, Wyo.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held at Belleville Wesleyan Church in Belleville, Kan. Private family graveside service was held at the Chester Cemetery.
