Description	:	John S. Crouse, 88 years, one month and 26 days, passed from this life March 7, 1970 at the Thayer Co. Hospital at Hebron. He was the son of John and Katherine Rohrar (sic) Crouse. He was born January 9, 1882 near Lincoln, Ill., and moved with his parents to a farm northeast of Chester in 1889 at the age of seven years. He has spent the rest of his life around Chester. Crouse, 88 years, one month and 26 days, passed from this life March 7, 1970 at the Thayer Co. Hospital at Hebron. He was the son of John and Katherine Rohrar (sic) Crouse. He was born January 9, 1882 near Lincoln, Ill., and moved with his parents to a farm northeast of Chester in 1889 at the age of seven years. He has spent the rest of his life around Chester. He was married October 19, 1911 to Alta H. Thomas, this marriage being blessed with six children. He was an active member in the Church of Christ in Chester for 66 years. He served as a deacon, an elder and on the building committee for the present church building. He also taught a Bible school class most of those 66 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, three children, one brother and two sisters. Surviving him are three children, two sons, Wilbert E. and John E., both of Chester, and one daughter, Ruth Fern Crouse Maahs of Lincoln; one sister, Mrs. Lee Larkins of Chester; 15 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, at the Chester Church of Christ with Jim Blake, minister, officiating. Music was by Mrs. Jim Blake and Mrs. Jack Sell with Mrs. Harold Crouse accompanying. Pallbearers were Harold Crouse, Melvin Crouse, Willard Larkins, Jack Sell, Kenneth Dake and Adrian Dake. Interment was in the Chester Cemetery, Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Service in charge.
