Kiene was born November 12, 1931, in Washington, IA, the son of Henry J. and Alice (Bjork) Kiene. On June 16, 1951, Wilbur was united in marriage to Lillian Thomann in Riverside. They later divorced. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside, a past member of the Writers Corner in Springfield, MO, President of the Missouri Poets and Friends Association, a member of the Moose Lodge, the Riverside Chamber of Commerce and the Riverside Fire Department. Mr. Kiene started the Riverside Current newspaper. Wilbur enjoyed sporting activities, trout fishing, golf and stain glass work. Mr. Kiene is survived by four children: Kevin Kiene and his wife Barb of Riverside, Randall Kiene and his wife Alison of Rockford, IL, Doug Kiene and his wife Diane of Rochester, MN and Michelle Howard and her husband Gerry of Iowa City; eight grandchildren, Chad, Josh, Bret, Kari, Justin, Adrienne, Nicholas and Damian; three great-grandchildren, Athena, Kiah and Gracie; one sister, Alice Moore and her husband Loren of Washington; two brothers, Ernie Kiene and his wife Bernice of Red Wing, MN and Joe Kiene and his wife Linda of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters-in-law, Sandy Kiene of Riverside and Alma Kiene of Fresno, CA; many nieces and nephews; three special friends, Aileen Rourke, Al Duttlinger and Bob Lane, all of Coralville; and Wilbur's beloved dog, Pedro. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Elmer and Charles Kiene. Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation of Riverside was in charge of arrangements. From: KalonaNews.com
