He was born in Surry County on May 4, 1923 to the late James Lacy and Virginia Blansett Love. Read More	PILOT MOUNTAIN, NC ~ Wiley Marion Love, 84, husband of Orene A. Love of Pilot Mountain, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 14, 2007 at his home. He was born in Surry County on May 4, 1923 to the late James Lacy and Virginia Blansett Love. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and a helpful neighbor. But most of all, he was a faithful servant of the Lord. Wiley was a dedicated member and former Deacon of the First Baptist Church in Pilot Mountain, NC. He served his country as a Sergeant in the US Army during World War II in Italy. Mr. Love was one of the first employees of Armtex, Inc. and retired as the Director of Engineering with 45 years of service. He was the founder of the Pilot Mtn School bands which consolidated into East Surry High School in 1961. Mr. Love also was a driving force in forming the scouting program in Pilot Mtn. He served as the first Scout Master of Troop 545 in 1955. He served as a District Commissioner of the Old Hickory Council from 1965 to 1967 and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award for service and dedication to scouting in Dec. 1967. Mr. Love attended the World Scouting Jamboree in Valley Forge, Pa. in 1957. He received the Old Hickory Council Distinguished Service Award in 1981. In 1999 Pilot Mountain Troup 545 honored Mr. Love through the creation of the Wiley M. Love Scout Master Award for the highest achiever of the year. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing the waters of Portsmouth Island and the White Oak River. His favorite times were sharing stories, song and food with family and friends. Preceding him in death were a brother, Carl W. Love, three sisters, Versie L. Taylor, Maggie L. Clement, Rena L. Cox, two half brothers Aldie Love and Gaston Love. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Jim Love and wife Tammy of Dallas. NC, Terry Love and wife Connie of Hickory, NC; two daughters, Gaye Gordon and husband Homer of Pilot Mtn, NC, Martha Smith and husband Phil of Pilot Mtn, NC; a sister Lucy Bailey and husband Bill of Palaska, Fla.; nine grandchildren Randy Gordon and wife Evelyn, David Gordon and wife Dana, Heather Love Guy and husband Glen, Brady Dennis, David Wiley Love, Chase Smith, Carrie Love, Chris Baggett, Brandon Baggett; and five great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, Sept. 16, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Eugene Sherrill, Thomas W. Taylor and James Stevenson officiating the service. The family will receive friends and family immediately following the service and other times at the Love home.
