Description	:	Wilfred "Bill" Niewoehner, age 85 of Fredericksburg, Iowa died Thursday morning February 11, 2010, at his home after a 9 ½ year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2010, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church - Richfield, rural Sumner with Pastor Harold Peterson officiating. Eva Mae Niewoehner will be the organist, accompanying Gene Niewoehner in his solo, "The Lord's Prayer". The congregation will sing, "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg with grandsons, Clayton Niewoehner, Jordan Niewoehner, Austin Niewoehner, Nate Steege, Gavin Steege, Collin Steege, Derek Drape and Nolan Nolte as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Bill's granddaughters, Jessica Nikkel, Lindsey Rogers, Stacy Regennitter and Holly Eastman. Friends may call 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Wilfred "Bill" Reinhardt Niewoehner was born May 18, 1924, on the family farm near Alpha, IA, the son of George Frederick and Laura Wilhelmine (Kilcher) Niewoehner. Bill was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church - Richfield, rural Sumner. He received his education in Alpha, IA, graduating in 1942. On November 11, 1951, at the Presbyterian Church in Morrison, Iowa Bill was united in marriage to Earlene Cooper. To this union four children were born. The couple farmed near Fredericksburg from 1951 until 1979 when they moved to an acreage east of Fredericksburg. Bill and Earlene moved into Fredericksburg in 2005. Bill was a former Deacon and Financial Secretary for St. Peter's Lutheran Church, a member of the Drift Runners Snowmobile Club, a charter member of the NEIA Antique & Power Show and a volunteer for the Plum Creek Bike and Nature Trail. Bill was an avid fan of any of his grandchildren's sporting and school events. Family get togethers and celebrations were always a highlight for him. He also enjoyed dancing and working with horses. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Earlene; three daughters, Beth (Jerry) Hagberg of Spirit Lake, IA, Jolee (Milo) Drape and Carol (Larry) Kuecker, all of Fredericksburg; twelve grandchildren and five great-grandsons; three step-grandsons; nine step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Sanders of Waverly and Bernice (Bob) Davis of Fredericksburg; two brothers, LaVerne (LaVera) Niewoehner of Elkader and Raymond (Betty) Niewoehner of Fredericksburg. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brad Niewoehner; five brothers, Alvin, Arthur, Harold, Walter and Edwin Niewoehner; a sister in infancy, Winnie Bertha Niewoehner.
