She had been failing in health ever since she underwent a cataract operation on her eye eighteen month ago. On January 18th she went to Florida hoping to regain her health. She was accompanied by her daughter Gladys and Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Hill of Spirit Lake. Although she never recovered she was up and around most of the time, and death came very suddenly. Minnie J. Reding was born in Cascade County, Iowa, November 16th, 1870 and passed away March 17th, 1948 at the age of 77 years and 4 months. She came to Dickinson County, Iowa 53 years ago, the bride of Chauncey S. Warren, son of Dr. and Mrs. Wm. Warren of Early, Iowa, and for many years she and her husband were engaged in photographic work. Mr. Warren who served in Company "F" of the 11th Regiment of Wisconsin, Infantry of Volunteers in the Civil War, preceded her in death on November 22, 1918. Three children were born to this union, Mrs. Glen Harris of Marshalltown, Iowa; Edison L. of Glenwood, Iowa and Gladys L. of Spirit Lake. Besides her son and two daughers Mrs. Warren is survived by three grandchildren, Gladys Novak of Des Moines and Richard and Robert Harris of Marshalltown. She was one of ten children all of whom have preceded her in death except a sister, Mrs. Katherine Steger of Newell, Iowa, and a brother, Adolph Reding of Hillyard, Washington. For several years Mr. Warren was employed in the Madsen Taylor Shop at Spirit Lake and later took up hemstitching establishing her own business in this city. She was a member of the Cemetery Society, Presbyterian League and Red Cross, always working faithfully in each. During World War I and World War II she spent many hours helping with Red Cross work, both in the rooms and at home. Mrs. Warren had a cheerful energetic disposition. She was a lover of beauty and nature and took much pride in her flowers and home. She was artistic and very capable in needlecraft of all kinds and although handicapped by her eyesight spent much time doing needle work right up to the last. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in Spirit Lake on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock and she was laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery beside her late husband. *Obituary with a photo of Minnie is published in The Spirit Lake Beacon, March 25, 1948. ---------
