Read More	The Miller County Autogram-Sentinel, February 1928 Willard Bear was born Oct. 13, 1888, died Feb 25, 1928, at his home in Ulman, Mo., being at the time of his death 39 years, four months and 12 days old. He suffered for two weeks more than mortal tongue can tell, yet he bore his suffering with the greatest patience. All that skilled physicians, willing hands and loving hearts could do, was done, but all to no avail. His work was done and the Lord said, "Come up higher." When but a youth he joined the U.S. Army and served his country three years, 18 months of that time being spent in the Philippine Islands. He enlisted in the World War May 28, 1917. He was Sergeant of Co. E. 157th Inf. He served 18 months in France and was honorably discharged April 29, 1919. He was a member of the Masonic order at Brumley. Last, but not least, he was a member of the Church of Christ, the writer having had the pleasure of taking his confession and baptizing him into Christ Dec. 26, 1926. He was faithful to the church and Bible school. He never failed to be at the little church house on Lord's Day morning. We shall meet, but we shall miss him. Funeral services were held from the Ulman Church of Christ Monday, Feb. 27, at which time the writer tried to speak words of comfort to the sorrowing ones. From there he body was conveyed to the Hickory Point Cemetery by Adams & Casey, undertakers. Here again the body was viewed by relatives and friends who could not be present at the funeral. After the last sad rites he was borne by his Masonic brothers to his last resting place where one of the most impressive services was held I ever witnessed. The little mound that hid from view his lifeless form was covered with the most beautiful flowers I ever saw. Brother Bear leaves to mourn their loss an aged mother with whom he was living and caring for at the time of his death; also six sisters, a host of other relatives and friends. And now to those to whom he was near and dear—let us bow our heads in humble submission to Him that doeth all things well and until that great day we say, dear son, dear brother, dear one, farewell.–R.F.
