Haake William A. Haake was born Feb. 7, 1905 to Frederick William and Louise Niederklein Haake at Wilcox, Neb. He died march 9, 1991 at Jefferson County Memorial Hospital in Fairbury, Neb. He was baptized Feb. 26, 1905, at St. John's Lutheran Church of Wilcox by Pastor Theo Hopmann. After a year the family returned to a farm south of Zion Lutheran Church, Tobias. He attended Zion Parochial School and former District 118. On April 13, 1919, he was confirmed at Zion by Pastor E.O. Potratz. On July 29, 1934, he was married to Edith Nau at Zion Lutheran Church by her father, Pastor William Nau. To this union were born four daughters. The couple lived on the family farm for 38 years. He served the church as trustee, elder and parish board member. he also served several terms as school board member of former District 118. In December 1972 the couple moved to Daykin, Neb., where he was maintenance man for nine years. He became ill with cancer in April 1988. Preceding him in death were his parents and an older sister, Elsie. Survivors include his wife, Edith; daughters, twins, Janie, Mrs. William Love, and Janette, Mrs. Richard Kyriss, both of Omaha, and Marilyn Derby of San Antonio, Texas and Connie, Mrs. Cary Sommer of Callaway; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lena Meyer of Geneva and Annette Davies of Norwalk, Calif.; brothers, Adolph of Tobias and Lester of Hickman. Services were March 12 from Zion Lutheran Church at Tobias with Pastor Kent Wartick officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons, james, John, joseph and Jeffrey Shields, Scott and Jeffrey Jochimsen, Lance Sommer and Jason Derby.
