Description	:	Lena was the second of six children born to William and Louise (Niederkleine) Haake on their farm near Daykin. They moved to their farm in Saline County when she was a small girl. Lena was baptized as a baby at Zion Lutheran Church, and confirmed there in 1915. It was there that she married Rudolph Meyer on 29 Apr 1925, and they had two sons: Wayne and Melvin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister Elsie in 1923 and brother William in 1991. ------------------------------------------ Following is a transcription of her obituary: Lena Meyer Lena Katherine Meyer, daughter of Friederiek (sic) William and Louise Niederklein Haake, was born on March 28, 1901, near Tobias, and died Dec. 8, 1993, at the Long Term Care in Geneva, at the age of 92 years, 8 months and 11 days. She was baptized April 21, 1901, at Zion Lutheran Church at Tobias by Pastor Theo. Hartman. She attended Zion Parochial School, and was confirmed on Feb. 28, 1915, by Pastor Karl Schroeder. On April 28, 1925, she married Rudolph Meyer. They lived on a farm south of Tobias, whre they raised two sons. the couple lived on the farm 33 years, moving to Tobias in 1958. After several years of failing health she entered the Heritage Nursing Home in Geneva in July of 1987. She entered the Fillmore County Hospital in May of 1990, and spent the last three years in Long Term Care. She was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church at Tobias. Preceding her in death were her husband, Rudy; parents; sister, Elsie; brother, William; and grandson, Stanley. Survivors include her sons, Wayne and his wife Edith and Melvin and his wife Sharon; five grandchildren; 13 great0grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Annette Davies of Norwalk, Calif.; brothers, Adolph of Tobias and Lester of Hickman; and nieces and nephews. Services were Dec. 11, from the Zion Lutheran Church at Tobias, with Pastor Michael Reiners officiating. Wilma Jordening provided the music. Pallbearers were Gregory and Randy A. Meyer, Larry Mussman, marvin Nadherny, Ryan Marcotte and Todd Yost. Honorary casket bearers were Janey Marcotte, Theresa Nadherny and Tina Mussman. Burial was in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
