Description	:	William was born to Antoni and Alida (sometimes called Ellen or Ella) nee De Bruin Ver Meer. He had seven brothers - Brandt, Jacob, Tunis, Otto, John, Garret, and Cornelius (Neal). The family owned a farm in the Black Oak area in Mahaska Co Iowa. In 1915 the value of the farm was $19,200. The family belonged to the Christian Reformed Church. On March 11, 1909 William married Martena Vos, daughter of Hendrikus and Gysbertje (de Jong) Vos. They continued farming in the Black Oak area. They had two boys - Gysbert Jacob born 1910... They had two boys - Gysbert Jacob born 1910 and died 1985; and Antonie Albert born 1912 and died 1920. Martena and William eventually took over the original farm of Pieter de Jong Sr., Grandfather of Martena, and their descendants still own it making it a Century Farm having been in the family for over 100 years.
