Description	:	Death Of An Old Resident. Mr. William A. Rayfield, one of the old landmarks of this community, passed away at his home on the state road, last Tuesday morning about 4 o'clock, after an illness of about ten days with apoplexy. Captain Billy as he was familiarly known to his host of friends, was born and raised in this section and was identified with the early development of the city and knew its history, probably, better than any resident now living. Rayfield, one of the old landmarks of this community, passed away at his home on the state road, last Tuesday morning about 4 o'clock, after an illness of about ten days with apoplexy. Captain Billy as he was familiarly known to his host of friends, was born and raised in this section and was identified with the early development of the city and knew its history, probably, better than any resident now living. Mr. Rayfield was a gentleman of the old school, quiet, courteous and unassuming in manner; a good neighbor and a devoted husband and father. For thirty years he had been a member of Mariner's M. P. Church and his consistent christian life was an example for the people of his community. The deceased was twice married his first wife being Miss Isadora Ward. After her death he married Miss Annie Johnson, his present wife, who survives him. The deceased is also survived by the following children: Mrs. Iona Ward, Mrs. Cornelia McCready, James K., Wm. L., Thomas C., Clifton C., and Horace E. Rayfield, all of Crisfield. Funeral services were held at Mariners M. P. Church, on Thursday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. F. W. McCorkle assisted by Dr. W. F. Corkran, of Asbury. Burial was in the family cemetery. The funeral was in charge of Crisfield Lodge, No. 51, Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
