Mrs. Ruttman and the little son will be brought here for burial, but the arrangements are not yet completed. The deceased is the younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Newhouse. The latter with Mrs. Frank Ruttman went out there Monday night Mrs. Anne Newhouse and J.A. Newhouse taking them as far as North Platte, where they were met by Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Klugherz (Laurine Newhouse.) Although Billy Ruttman, four, died Tuesday as the result of fatal burns Monday night, his mother, Mrs. Margery Mae Ruttman, 34, died at 10 o'clock Thursday without having been told of the death of her son. Twin daughters who were born to Mr. and Mrs. Ruttman at a hospital here Monday, are among the survivors. Billy was brought here Monday afternoon by neighbors after he suffered severe burns from lighted tractor fuel which had spilled over his legs. He and his playmates had lighted the oil and the can later tipped over, and the contents were poured on him. Mrs. Stella Kealey who was taking care of little Billy and his brothers and sister, suffered serious burns on her hands while she removed the burning clothes from him. The father was in Scottsbluff at the time of the accident staying with Mrs. Ruttman. Following a short service at Fort Laramie this (Friday) morning at 10 o'clock, the two bodies will be sent to Nelson, Nebraska where the Ruttmans formerly lived. Mrs. Ruttman was secretary-treasurer of the Mother's Club of Fort Laramie and was a member of the Ladies Aid of the Presbyterian church here.--Scottsbluff Star-Herald, April 17th William Alan (Billy) Ruttman was born April 30, 1937 at Fort Laramie, Wyoming and passed away at Scottsbluff Hospital at Scottsbluff, Nebraska April 14, 1942 at the age of 4 years, 11 months and 14 days. Billy's entire life was spent in the vicinity of Fort Laramie, Wyoming and Mitchell, Nebraska. While playing in the yard at his home with his older brother they ignited a can of fuel oil and it splashed on his legs causing his clothing to burn. He was ushered to a hospital in Scottsbluff where his mother was a patient and critically ill, and his father was at her bedside. Billy passed away at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. His mother never learned of his passing and followed him in death two days later. He leaves to mourn his loss, his father, Howard C. Ruttman; a sister, Jeryne Ann, two brothers, Gordon and Ronald, and infant twin sisters born a few hours before his death; also his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ruttman and Mr. and Mrs. James Newhouse all of Nelson, Nebraska; a great grandmother, Mrs. Julie Ruttman of Superior, Nebraska, and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. The double funeral service was conducted at the Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon at 2:30, by the pastor, the Rev. J. Byrd Ray assisted by Rev. C.M. Foust of the Christian church. A short service was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Newhouse before proceeding to the church. Interment was made in the Nelson cemetery.
