"William Baird, son of Major William Baird, was born March 16, 1762 in Hagerstown, MD and died March 9, 1836 at the age of 73 years, 11 months, 24 days, in Harmony, Clark County, OH. He is buried in Asbury Chapel Cemetery, Pleasant township. He married Dorothy Camerer (Kamerer) at the end of the war. She was born in May 1760 and died Sept 24, 1824 at the age of 64 years, 5... "William Baird, son of Major William Baird, was born March 16, 1762 in Hagerstown, MD and died March 9, 1836 at the age of 73 years, 11 months, 24 days, in Harmony, Clark County, OH. He is buried in Asbury Chapel Cemetery, Pleasant township. He married Dorothy Camerer (Kamerer) at the end of the war. She was born in May 1760 and died Sept 24, 1824 at the age of 64 years, 5 months. She is also buried in Asbury Chapel Cemetery in Section 1, lot 3, grave 15. William Baird when 18 years of age joined the Revolutionary Army. During his enlistment he guarded prisoners in Hessian Camps. He was personally acquainted with Daniel Boone and Simon Kenton and in 1809 William Baird attended the peace treaty with Kenton and the Indians. In 1790, William Baird and his wife moved from Maryland to Westmoreland, PA. Then about 4 years later they came to Limestone (now Maysville), KY and then from there to Fleming County in that state. He and his family settled in 1808 in Harmony Township, Clark County on 160 acres of land in Section 30, Range 9. He obtained his patent for this land in 1812. Besides himself and his wife, William Baird had 3 sons; John, Peter C and William D and his daughters were Hester (wife of John Smith), Susannah (wife of Joshua Tatman), Elizabeth Wilson, Polly Hodge and Hester Smith (dead)."
