Mr. Ford was born on Feb. 27, 1926, in Bowling Green Township, to the late Rollie J. and Ruth (Gordon) Ford. He passed away on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004 in Newark. Prior to retirement in 1982, Mr. Ford was a machine operator with Rockwell International for 30 years. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army during World War II, where he was stationed in the Philippines. He was a member of the Marne United Methodist Church; United Auto Workers Union 1037; American Legion Post 85; Newark Moose Lodge; Fraternal Order of Druids in Newark; and the VW Post 1060. Mr. Ford was an avid hunter. He also enjoyed his Jeeps, mushroom hunting, was an Ohio State Buckeyes fan and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan. But most important in his life was his family. He was a devout husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Billie (Neibarger) Ford, whom he married on Dec. 14, 1946; two daughters an a son-in-law, Ruth Ellen and Ronald Hughes and Brenda K. Ford, all of Newark; one son and daughter-in-law, Douglas L. and Alice Ford of Newark; three grandchildren, William Hughes, Daniel Hughes and Tiffany Ford, all of Newark; two great-granddaughters, Courtney Hughes and Taylor Hughes, both of Newark; and two nephews, James Ford and William Ford, Ion addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas A. Ford and one sister, Bernice F. Hupp.
