At the age of eight he moved with his parents to the farm where he has since made his home. On March 6, 1918 he was united in marriage to Eva Studt, to which union seven children were born of whom six are surviving. Mrs. Frances Mosher of Lamar, Colorado, the Rev. Wilfred Henning of Waterville, Kansas; Mrs. Marjorie Tobald of Glasco, and Misses Helen, Dorothy and Norma Jean of the home. He was baptized in infancy in St. Paul's Lutheran church of Glasco where he has since been a life long member and at the time of his death was serving his second term as member of the church council. He faithfully served his country in the first World War. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and his son, Marvin. Besides his wife and children he is survived by three brothers, Carl of Jamestown, Henry and Fred of Glasco, and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Tobald and Mrs. Alma Boyer of Simpson and a host of relatives and friends. He was a diligent worker in the fields and ever a loving husband and kind father. He was faithful in attendance at Devine Worship and in partaking of the Holy Sacrament. God has gathered to His fold a faithful steward. Funeral services were conducted Monday, July 14, at 6:00 p.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran church with the pastor, Rev. Eugene Smith in charge. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Patty Carlile, Laura Olson, Will Pilcher, and Kenneth Grittman, accompanied by Anna Olson. Pallbearers were William Berndt, Jess Dalrymple, Rudolph Grittman, C.E. Halderson, Albert Grittman, and Emil Liedtke. Serving as flower bearers were Marilyn Halderson, Bernice Grittman Burnett, Freda Tubach, and Virginia Campbell. Interment was in the family plot in Glasco cemetery, in charge of the Griffith Funeral Home.
