Bowersox** William Clarence Bowersox, the second son of Silas and Eliza Bashford Bowersox, was born September 15, 1875, near Chillicothe, Missouri, and died at his home in Glasco, Kansas, March 9, 1963. At the age of two years he moved with his parents to a farm in Republic county, Kansas, where he grew to maturity and was united in marriage to Bessie Lee Breckenridge at her parents home near Hollis, Kansas, on January 12, 1898. The family moved to Glasco in July of 1915 where Mr. Bowersox operated a general merchandise store until 1920. At that time he started a career as traveling salesman for various firms which culminated in his retirement in 1959 after 25 years with the Plush Mills. Mr. Bowersox was a faithful member of the Methodist Church, serving as trustee for years. In 1958 he had been voted a life-time membership in Glasco Lodge No. 492 AF & AM, after completing 50 years of membership in the Masonic Order. He was preceded in death by both parents, and two brothers. He is survived by his widow, Bessie Lee; one daughter, Mrs. Merton Fletcher of Fort Collins, Colo.; one son, William H. Bowersox, Laurel, Miss.; four grandchildren, Max I. Fletcher of Fullerton, Calif.; Mrs. Malcom Pickett of Corcoran, Calif.; Mrs. Jan. H. Smith of San Antonio, Texas; and Thomas H. Bowersox of Houston, Texas. Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Stella Hoag, Mrs. Clarence Krohn, Mrs. Nettie Olson, all of Concordia; Mrs. Emma Maxon of Clyde, and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Glasco Tuesday, March 12, with Rev. Roger Shanks officiating. Pallbearers were Fred Harper, Earl Plush, Leland Chapin, George Colwell, Delmar Loe, and Dwaine Smejkal. Organist was Nadine Teasley and singers, Opal Breckenridge and Bernice Harper. Final resting place was in the Glasco Cemetery. Dean Funeral Home of Glasco was in charge of arrangements.
