Rev. Joseph Shillcutt conducted the service. Mrs. Bowersox died Saturday, May 3, in the Nicol Home. She was born April 19, 1880, at Sepo, Kans., in Republic County, to Hugh and Emily Breckenridge. She was married to William Clarence Bowersox near Wayne, Ks., on Jan. 12, 1898. To this union two children were born, Dorothy Bowersox Fletcher, Ft. Collins, Colo., and Wm. Hugh Bowersox, Laurel, Miss. She moved to Glasco with her family in 1915 and has been most interested in all the local activities. She was a member of the Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, and the Wisteria Club. Mrs. Bowersox loved her home and was accomplished in needlework and cooking, quilting many quilts for friends, baking rolls and cakes for the local parties. Her husband, four brothers, and one sister preceded her in death. She leaves her daughter, Dorothy and husband Merton, her son, Wm. Hugh and wife, Esther; four grandchildren, Max L. Fletcher and wife, Dan Diego, Barbara Pickett and husband, Corcoran, Calif., Sue Smith and husband, Alice, Tex., Tom Bowersox and wife, Houston, Tex.; 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Burial was in the Glasco Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lowell Nutland, Leland Chapin, Jean Noel, George McGinn, Stanley Plush, George Colwell. Organist: Mrs. Irma Ethridge, singer, Mrs. Joyce Pauls. Seapo, In Republic County, Kansas: Town of Seapo The now extinct town of Seapo was located two miles south of Wayne on the eastern edge of the Great Salt Marsh. The area that was once platted into city blocks is now nothing but open crop field. The post office at Salt Marsh, which was the original name of Seapo – was established July 9, 1866, and was the first post office in Republic County. It was also one of only three post offices between Manhattan and Denver. The post office was discontinued Sept. 25, 1889.
