He married Phyllis Thurmond, January 4, 1948. They were married at First Methodist Church in Abilene. Read More	William Dale Hoover, Salina, died Friday, September 5, 2008. He was born June 30, 1925, in Sutphen's Mill, Kan., to David and Susie (Page) Hoover. He married Phyllis Thurmond, January 4, 1948. They were married at First Methodist Church in Abilene. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Phyllis, of the home; four daughters, Denise Hoover of Salina, Janet Renich and husband Tom of Shawnee, Elizabeth McMahon of Salina, and Anne Kauffman and husband Craig of Shawnee; brothers, Dean Hoover and wife Helen of Abilene and Eldon Hoover and wife Nelda of Chapman; sister, Doris Larson of Enterprise; sister-in-law, Jean Hoover of Abilene; seven grandchildren, Dale Kvasnicka of Salina, Kristel and Sarah Renich, both of Olathe, Zach McMahon of Manhattan, and Rachel Hoover Lamb and Grace and Sarah Kauffman, all of Shawnee; and stepgrandchildren, Lauren and Wade Kauffman, both of Sabetha. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Robert "Bobby" Hoover; three sisters, Miriam Nichols and husband Loren, Viola Boles and husband George, and Irene Hoover; brother-in-law, John Larson; grandson, Christopher Fagan; and great-granddaughter, Paige Leann Fagan. Dale served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Wichita. He was a retired truck driver and a loving family man. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, restoring antique machinery and NASCAR. He was an accomplished, self-taught machinist. He had a servant's spirit and was always willing to help neighbors and friends. He is loved by many and will be greatly missed. He was a member of United Methodist Church of the Cross, Elks, VFW and Central Kansas Flywheels. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, KS 67401. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2008, at United Methodist Church of the Cross, 1600 Rush, Salina, KS 67401. Graveside services will be in Bethel Cemetery, on Mink Road N.E., Abilene, Kan., at 1:30 p.m. Monday.
