Description	:	William Elliott Earle died Tuesday evening, one half hour short of his 96th birthday. He was born in Port Angeles, Wash., on Feb. 2, 1909, to Lawson and Agnes Earle. He attended school there and in Lake City, Iowa, where he graduated from high school. He moved to Lewistown with his family in 1927, where he met and married Clara Thompson in 1935; she died in 1936. He was born in Port Angeles, Wash., on Feb. 2, 1909, to Lawson and Agnes Earle. He attended school there and in Lake City, Iowa, where he graduated from high school. He moved to Lewistown with his family in 1927, where he met and married Clara Thompson in 1935; she died in 1936. Bill then served his country in the Navy, aviation branch, as an electronics technician during World War II in the European Theater. In 1946 he met and married Esther Dennis in Lewistown on Dec. 27. They then moved the family from South Dakota to Lewistown. He worked at the Grease Spot in Lewistown until they moved in June 1956 to Great Falls, where he was employed as an electronics technician with the Federal Aviation Administration. He retired in June 1973. Bill was an active ham radio operator since 1923 and belonged to the Quarter Century Wireless Association. In July 2003 he received his 80-year plaque from the association at the annual Hamfest in Glacier National Park. Bill attended that meeting yearly for many years and was honored many times as being one of the oldest active members of the organization. He was also a member of the American Legion. He and Esther enjoyed many years of traveling, walking, fishing and using their recreational vehicle. They moved in April 2001 to the Waterford in Butte, where he resided until his death. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Esther, Butte; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Derla and Terry Newton, Butte; stepson and daughter-in-law, Dalvin and Lorraine Dennis, Hanover, Pa.; grandchildren Terri (Newton) Medina and Daniel Newton, both of Butte, Paula (Dennis) Harman, Ohio, Chris Dennis, Tampa, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Chris, Shaun and Kayla Medina, Butte; special niece and nephew, Sandra Gift, Topeka, Kan., and Jim Earle, Dallas; and an extended family of sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Private family services will be conducted. Memorials may be made to the Shrine Hospital for Children or to a charity of the donor's choice.
