He was found by Mr. Otis Henning, who lives across the street. Mr. Rettenmayer had evidently been reading while lying down as he was wearing glasses and his paper had fallen across him. Rettenmayer Saturday Afternoon Burial Made In Evergreen Cemetery Death Occurred Suddenly Thursday A. M. Funeral services for Mr. Will H. Rettenmayer, whose sudden death occurred last Thursday morning, were held at the family home, three miles south of Loup City Saturday afternoon, in charge of Rev. E. R. Peterson. The body was cremated and the ashes placed in Evergreen cemetery. William Henry Rettenmayer, the son of Joseph and Sophia Rettenmayer, was born in Fairbury, Illinois, May 23, 1868 and died in Loup City, Nebraska, August 3, 1938 at the age of 70 years, 2 months and 20 days. When he was 12 years old he came to Nebraska with his sister, Emma, to join others of the family, who had migrated here the previous year. The family originally settled at Bloody Run, Nebraska and two years later moved to a farm south of Loup Cuty. Here he met Emma Reidel [sic], whom he married in the fall of 1896. To this union were born two sons, Clyde and Carl. Leaving the farm about 1890, he entered the mercantile business in Loup City and later engaged in building and contracting, which he did until his retirement ten years ago. He then spent some time traveling with his wife seeking to benefit her health. After her death, he made his home with his sister, Bertha, on the home farm. He leaves his sister, Bertha of Loup City; two sons, Clyde of Morris, Illinois and Carl of Dallas, Texas; also two grandchildren Jean and Billy of Dallas. The Sherman County Times - Aug 11 1938
