Lead Daily Call, Monday, March 13, 1933, Page 1: WILLIAM WARA DIES SUNDAY. William Wara, 49, a resident of Lead for many years, died at the Homestake hospital here at 6"15 o'clock Sunday evening as the result of an illness which began February 27. Members of his family here were with him when the end came. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Wara, two sons, Oscar and William, and a daughter, Mrs. Ivan Palmer, all of Lead. Two grandchildren, Doren Wara and Gerald Palmer, also survive, as well as a cousin of Mr. Wara, Hugo Wara, in Butte, Montana, and the deceased's mother, two brothers and a sister living in Sweden. Mr. Wara came to America in 1904 from Sweden, where he was born March 24, 1884. He made his home in Butte, Mont., for nine and a half years after arriving in this country, after which he came to Lead. He entered the employ of the Homestake Mining company here and has lived in Lead since. He was a member of the local M.B.A. - I.O.F. lodge. Funeral arrangements will be announced tomorrow. Lead Daily Call, Tuesday, March 14, 1933, Page 1: WARA SERVICES ARE TOMORROW. Funeral services for the late William Wara, of Lead, whose death came at the Homestake hospital here after an illness of several weeks, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1:15 o'clock from the Finnish Lutheran church on Mill street. The Rev. F. W. Viken will speak in English and the Rev. Makela, of Helsingfors, Finland, will preach in Finnish. The funeral party will leave the family residence after short services at 1 o'clock. Interment will be made in the South Lead cemetery in the family lot. The following friends will act as pall bearers: Nick Treweek, Victor Pine, Everett Nelson, Ike Kermu, Jacob Mankinen and Andrew Burke.
