Funeral Services will be 4:00 PM Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bob Sloan with burial to follow in the Patrick Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 4:00 PM Sunday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Wilks was born November 21, 1932 in Patrick, SC a son of the late Paul Leslie and Mary Helen Wilks. He was a retired employee of Sonoco with 41 years of service, and was a member of SOTC (Sonoco Old Timer’s Club). Mr. Wilks was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was also a life-long member of Patrick Presbyterian Church where he served as former Elder and Treasurer. He enjoyed gardening and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family. In addition to his parents, William was also preceded in death by 1 granddaughter, Kristie Wilks; and 2 brothers, Jimmy Wilks and Charles J. Wilks. Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Geraldine Wilks of the home; 3 children, Tommy (Sherrille) Wilks, and Mike Wilks both of Patrick, SC, and Kaye Johnson of Asheville, NC; 3 grandchildren, Jessica Wilks of Patrick, SC, Katelyn (Justin) Beebe of Wilkesboro, NC, and Zachary Johnson of Asheville, NC; 2 great grandchildren, Gracie and Parker. The family cordially requests that memorials be made in Mr. Wilks memory to Patrick Presbyterian Church “Manse Fund”, P.O. Box 37, Patrick, SC 29584, the Kristie Wilks Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 37, Patrick, SC 29584, or to Hospice of Chesterfield County, P.O. Box 293, Chesterfield, SC 29709.
