Description	:	Funeral services for William Penwell were held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Methodist Church conducted by Rev. L. H. They. Mr. Penwell died February 21 at the Municipal Hospital in Clarinda of a heart ailment. The body was brought to the Wolfe Funeral Home and then rested at the Penwell home home on West Fourth Street until the funeral. Active pall bearers were Dell Damewood, Harold Howes, Morris Orme, Johnny Mankie, Rowley Muckey, and Wesley Maines, and honorary bearers were Charles Shepherd, Louis Enarson, Vern Lewis, Ned Combs, Harry Harlan, and Cecil Peterson. Interment was in the Villisca Cemetery. William Penwell, son of James and Elizabeth Penwell, was born in Page County, near hepburn, October 11, 1874 and was 75 years old at his death. Most of his live was spent farming in Page an dTaylor Counties. When he discontinued farming four years ago, he moved to Vilisca where he established the family home. Early in life he became a member of the Methodist Church to which he remained faithful until his death. When he moved to Villisca he joined the First Methodist Church here. In 1895 he united in marriage to Ella Shepherd. To this union two children were born, Belvia Bryson and Minnie Pearl who died in infancy. Mrs. Penwell died in May 1901. In 1903 he was united in marriage to Mary Stanley and to this union six children were born. Those surviving are his wife, Mary; the children, Mrs. Everett Penwellon, Fontanelle, Iowa; Mrs. Elvin Wells, New Market; Mrs R. R. Watson, Sheffield, Iowa; Orville Penwell, Hattisburg, Mississippi; Mrs. Howard Penwellwhee, Bedford, Iowa; Mrs. Harold Cerven, Stanton, Iowa; Harold Penwell, Farragut, Iowa; Three brothers, Penwell, Englewood, Colorado; Ben, Carpenter, Wyoming, and Clarence, Nodaway. Five sisters, Mrs. Sam Day, Lincoln, Nebraska, Mrs. Wes Shum, Clarinda, Iowa, Mrs. Bert Villers, Colville, Washington, Mrs. John Elrick and Mrs. Amy Upp, both of Carpenter, Wyoming; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
