Hofflinger William Rinehart Hofflinger, the son of Bertha Genschorck and Joseph Hofflinger, was born at Waterville, Kansas, on November 18, 1898 and entered Eternal Life from the hospital at Halstead, Kansas on July 22, 1958, at the age of 59 years, 8 months and 4 days, after an illness of 12 weeks. He was baptized and confirmed member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He grew to manhood in the vicinity of Waterville. On April 19, 1922 he was married to Esther Henning of Glasco at Concordia. To Esther and William two sons were born, those being William and Robert. William gained his livelihood and provided for his family by farming. With the exception of three years at Holton, Kansas, and two years at Lamar, Kansas, his home had been in Cloud county. In the surrounding communities he will best be remembered by his friends there for his avid interest in baseball. In addition to his wife, Esther, he leaves behind him his two sons, one grandson, William John of Wichita, Kansas and one granddaughter, Debra Ann of Glasco; two brothers, Joe of Manchester, Kansas, and Carl of Minneapolis, Kansas; nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and two brothers. Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Glasco, Kansas, at 10:30 o'clock, Friday,July 25, 1958, with Pastor Merle Moebus officiating. Vocal music was by Mrs. Lorene Martin and Mrs. Sue Martin, accompanied by Mrs. Lowell Halderson at the organ. Casket bearers were Lewis Key, Wayne Hofflinger, Alfred Demanette, Lloyd Willars, Louis Pape, and George Jones. Interment was in Glasco cemetery. Haley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. A large number of out-of-town friends and relatives were here to attend the funeral.
