Hofflinger Funeral Wednesday Esther Louise Hofflinger was born in Jan. 7, 1901, to August and Eva Emma Pinkall Henning on the Henning farm northeast of Glasco, Kans. Her earthly life of 93 years, seven months, and 14 days ended early Sunday morning, Aug. 21, 1994, at the Nicol Home in Glasco, Kansas. A lifelong resident of the Glasco community, Esther attended the Eureka country school. On April 19, 1922, Esther was united in marriage to William Rinehardt Hofflinger at Concordia, Kans. Two sons, William Ernest(sic) and Robert Lee were born to this union. With the exception of living two years in Holton, Kans., and farming three years near Lemar, Kans., Esther and her family were farmers in Cloud County, purchasing their farm in 1943. She enjoyed living there with her husband William who died in 1958. She moved to Concordia in 1960 where she worked as a Nurses Aid at St. Joseph Hospital in Concordia until 1964. She moved to the Miner Ballou farm near her farm where she resided eight years. She purchased her home in Glasco in 1972 and lived there until entering the Nicol Home in 1992. A kind, loving, and hardworking person, Esther took pride in her cooking and homemaking skills. She enjoyed living on the farm, raising her children in the country. Her leisure time was happiest spent fishing with her husband along with playing cards with friends and neighbors at card parties. Above all, her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her the most joy in life. As an infant, she was baptized and at the age of 12 she was confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Glasco. Survivors are her sons, William Hanson, Middletown, Calif., Robert Hofflinger and wife Marilyn, Glasco; three grandchildren, William John Hofflinger and wife Dianna, Wichita, Loren Hofflinger and wife Diane, Glasco, Debra Sauchuk and husband Mark, Broken Arrow, Okla.; two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Loren Hofflinger, Glasco. In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by three sisters, Lena Amspacker, Clara Hare, Elsa Winscinsci; one brother Fred Henning; one granddaughter Linda Hofflinger, and her husband, William R. Hofflinger. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 1994, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Glasco, with Pastor Betty Stedman officiating. Music was provided by soloist Bill Martin accompanied by Stacey Berndt at the organ. Casket Bearers were Jim Henning, Marvin Henning, Fred Hoesli, John Hofflinger, Loren Hofflinger and George Jones. Interment was in the Glasco Cemetery. Services were under the direction of the Dean Funeral Home, Glasco.
