Wolfe, who was born in Mills County in 1854, passed away at his home near Strahan Wednesday evening following a long period of ill health. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in the Methodist church in Strahan. The church was filled to overflowing with friends and relatives from far and near for he was well and widely known. Many beautiful flowers testified to the love and esteem of friends. Members of the Masonic lodge in Malvern of which the deceased was a member, attended in a body and formed a guard of honor at the church and at the cemetery gave the beautiful burial service of the order under the direction of Bryan Maxwell of the Glenwood lodge. Burial was in the Malvern Cemetery. William W. Wolfe was born in Mills County, Iowa July 15, 1854, of early pioneer parents and lived his entire life in Mills county with the exception of a few years spent in Monona county . He was married to Mary N. Kayton March 30, 1876 and established his home on a farm south of Malvern where they lived for about eleven years when they moved to Monona county near Turin. After about ten years, they returned to Mills County and lived near Silver City for several years, then purchased the farm two miles southeast of Strahan where he has since resided. A daughter, Daisy F., and only child, who later became the wife of Stephen Criswell, was born in 1878. Mrs. Wolfe died August 26, 1906. November 3, 1909 he was married to Miss Essie Jones of Malvern with whom he enjoyed his happy home until his death which occurred at his home October 25, 1933. Mr. Wolfe had always been a strong robust man until the death of his daughter in 1928 but it was not until two years ago that any noticeable break in his health was seen. Since that time he was gradually declined and the last year has sufferred almost continually but his suffering was cased by the patient and loving care and nursing of his devoted wife who was his nurse to the end. Mr. Wolfe was a man of sterling Christian character, uniting with the church when a boy or young man, and served as an official of the Strahan Methodist church nearly all of his years of residence in this community. Mr. Wolfe died possessed of the greatest wealth which one can claim, a Christian faith that gave satisfying assurance and a host of friends both in his lodge and out that proved their friendship and esteem during his long illness. He became a Mason twenty-five years ago and has valued very highly and enjoyed greatly his fraternal fellowship. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, one grandchildren, Paul Criswell, of Glenwood, two brothers D. A. and A. W. of Turin, one sister and three brothers living in California, and several other relatives.
