Mrs. Zerelda (sic) Fowler and Mrs. Callie Bausman, who were at the station Tuesday when the special train came through, saw both President Lincoln and President Grant many years ago. Mrs. Iva Jackson reported the national convention of the Grand Army of the Republic and its affiliated organizations, held recently in Washington, D.C. Mrs. Minnie Shirley and members of her committee were hostesses for the meeting. FOWLER Mrs. Eli Fowler, 90 years old, died yesterday forenoon at the home of her son, E.H. Fowler, of Americus. Mrs. Fowler came to Kansas in 1857 and has spent most of her life in Emporia. Mrs. Fowler was the former Zerilda Cavaness. She was born in Norman County, Ill. November 3, 1849. She was married to Eli Fowler December 8, 1865. Mr, Fowler was a member of the Emporia Christian Church. The funeral will be held Thursday 2 p.m. from the Emporia Christian Church. The remains will be held in Americus until about 1:30.
