Description	:	Departed this life Feb. 15th, 1900, Mrs. Zoway Chaussee. The subject of this notice was born in Montreal, Canada, December 15, 1819. Was married to Charles Chaussee 1839. Settled in Dubuque, Iowa in 1848. Came to Clay County, Dakota Territory in 1862. She was the mother of twelve children, seven of whom are living, five sons and two daughters, namely: Charles, George, Victor, Alexander and Oliver, all are respected and worthy citizens. The subject of this notice was born in Montreal, Canada, December 15, 1819. Was married to Charles Chaussee 1839. Settled in Dubuque, Iowa in 1848. Came to Clay County, Dakota Territory in 1862. She was the mother of twelve children, seven of whom are living, five sons and two daughters, namely: Charles, George, Victor, Alexander and Oliver, all are respected and worthy citizens. Of the daughters Zoway is the wife of James Brady and Lucy the wife of Thomas Collin. Mrs. Chaussee was one of the oldest settlers of the neighborhood in which she lived, was universally loved and respected by all that made her acquaintance. She was a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother, and her descendants are without a single exception intelligent respected and useful members of society. She lived long and well, a faithful member of the Catholic church, her pioneer life was a test of Christianity which in her case never failed. Relatives, neighbors and friends mourn the death of this good woman. Her remains were interred in the Fairview Catholic cemetery. Vermillion Plain Talk, February 22, 1900
