Description	:	The ground for the first cemetery was cleared in a "frolic" held on Oct. 21, 1862 when the trees which had been previously felled were piled and burned. An unhewn wooden cross was erected there to mark the last resting-place of the Johnville pioneers." From "Johnville, The Centennial Story of An Irish Settlement" by W.P. Kilfoil. 1962. The cemetery was consecrated in 1869 by Bishop John Sweeny.
