Description	:	One of the oldest churches built over a thousand years ago, the original wooden structure built by Saxons. The first stone structure was built by the Normans about 1140 when it was dedicated to Saint Mary, a chancel added in 1220. Katherine Montacute built a tower in the church to the memory of her husband, William Earl of Salisbury, and the Black Death halted the work.
