Description	:	Adams D Starr, one of the oldest and best known citizens of Nodaway, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ada Poston, near Villisca, last Friday at the age of 74 years. The funeral services were held in Nodaway Sunday Conducted by Rev. J. K. Driver of Atlantic, assisted by the Presbyterian minister at Villisca. Burial was made in the Nodaway Cemetery, It was one of the largest funerals ever held in this county, a large number from Corning being present to pay their respects to the memory of the good man. Read More	Adams D Starr, one of the oldest and best known citizens of Nodaway, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ada Poston, near Villisca, last Friday at the age of 74 years. Burial was made in the Nodaway Cemetery, It was one of the largest funerals ever held in this county, a large number from Corning being present to pay their respects to the memory of the good man. Mr. Starr was one of the pioneer settlers of this county, coming to Nodaway in the days before the civil war. He accrued land in this county and also in the edge of Montgomery County, where he raised his family. Mrs. Starr died some 19 years ago and one daughter, Mary died about 18 years ago. Three children survive their father. They are Mrs. Ada Poston of Villisca, Oscar Starr of Nodaway, and Emery Starr of Fruita, Colorado. All of them present at the funeral. Mr. Starr enlisted in the Company H. Fourth Iowa Infantry, at the commencement of the Civil War and was a veteran in the service. He lost a leg in the great strife. After the war he returned to this community, where he has continuously resided. He was an active member of the Nodaway Presbyterian Church, in which organization he was an elder for a great many years. The community suffers a real loss in the passing of this good man from the activities of life. Adams County Free Press, September 11, 1918, page 8 Adam Starr enlisted as a Private on October 14, 1861 at the age of 18. He joined Co. H, 4th Iowa Infantry Regiment on November 16, 1861. Received a gunshot wound to the left leg and leg was amputated. Discharged for wounds on May 24, 1865 at Keokuk, IA.
