Description	:	Oscar Walter Starr, son of Maria Minert and Adam Starr, was born November 20, 1871 in Montgomery County, Iowa, southeast of Villisca, and passed away January 17, 1954 at Rosary Hospital in Corning at the age of 82 years, 1 month, and 27 days. His early life was spent on the farm and his education was received in the rural schools in Montgomery County, Iowa, his last teacher being the late Dr. J. H. Wallahan of Corning. Read More	Oscar Walter Starr, son of Maria Minert and Adam Starr, was born November 20, 1871 in Montgomery County, Iowa, southeast of Villisca, and passed away January 17, 1954 at Rosary Hospital in Corning at the age of 82 years, 1 month, and 27 days. His early life was spent on the farm and his education was received in the rural schools in Montgomery County, Iowa, his last teacher being the late Dr. J. H. Wallahan of Corning. On July 1, 1894, he was united in marriage to Lela Rolston, who preceded him in death on January 12, 1952. They located on the farm of his birthplace, the house which his father had built shortly after the Civil War. In this home were born their two daughters, now Mrs. Zola Ruben and Mrs. Marie RePass. After 5 years in this home, they moved in 1899 to a place one half mile east of Nodaway, which has been their home throughout the years following. On July 1, 1951, Mr. and Mrs. Starr observed their 57th wedding anniversary. Mr. Starr was active in community affairs in his younger days. He was united with the Presbyterian Church early in life, was a member of the Iroquois Lodge No. 590 of the Masonic Order for 48 years. He was the first member to be initiated into the lodge after it was granted its charter. He also served two terms on the Board of Supervisors of Adams County. He was also preceded in death by his father, mother, two sisters, Mary Starr and Mrs. Ada Posten and one brother Emery Starr. Hiss passing marks the last of the Starr family. He is survived by his two daughters, and sons-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ruben of Lenox, and Mr. and Mrs. Will Repass of Villisca, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ben J. Gibson of Des Moines, and a number of nieces and nephews to whom he was greatly devoted. Funeral services were conducted January 19, at the First Presbyterian Church in Nodaway with Rev. William Niles and Iroquois Lodge officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. William Niles and Mrs. Floyd Walter, accompanist. Pall bearers were Charles Wood, Gilbert Rider, Fred Carothers, Hrold Everett, Ted Kennedy, and Harold Narigon. Burial was made in Nodaway Cemetery.
