Description	:	Elizabeth Johnson was born in Iowa, to German parents. Albert Johnson was born in Sweden. He immigrated to the USA in 1898, when he was about 30. He became a naturalized citizen when he married Elizabeth M. Johnson. Her parents were born in Germany, but she herself was born in Iowa, and the seven children born to Albert and Elizabeth were all born in Iowa. Albert Johnson was born in Sweden. He immigrated to the USA in 1898, when he was about 30. He became a naturalized citizen when he married Elizabeth M. Johnson. Her parents were born in Germany, but she herself was born in Iowa, and the seven children born to Albert and Elizabeth were all born in Iowa. The 1910 Census shows the Johnsons farming in Raglan Township, Harrison County, Iowa. In 1910, the five children born were: Ruby J (10), Leol H. (8), Harold H. (7), Thelma E (4), and Ervin A ("Irvie") (1) Irvie died May 5, 1911, and his small gray stone is to the left(north) and behind his parents' stone. The 1930 Census shows the family living in Mondamin, Iowa. Ruby and Harold no longer at home, but another daughter, Helen L. Johnson, had been born about 1919, and Ronald F. Johnson was born about 1914. In 1930, Albert was no longer farming, but was a retail merchant of farm implements. Leol, his son, was at home, but working as an insurance agent. The 1930's were hard: in 1940, 71-year old Albert was back to farming. Daughter Helen was still at home, but working for the US Post office as a clerk. Ronald (26) had graduated from high school, and was driving a bus. His wife, June (21)was most likely helping her mother-in-law take care of the house and feed the two boarders the family had taken in. Kay Helen Johnson, daughter of Ronald and G. June Johnson, lived in the same house as her grandparents. Ronald and Ervin A. were brothers. Baby Kay Helen's stone is just to the left (north) of her grandparents' double red stone. In 1940, the Johnson farmhouse had these people living in it: Albert J Johnson, 71, head, farmer Elizabeth M " , 61, his wife Helen Johnson , 21, daughter (US Post Office clerk) Ronald Johnson , 26, son (bus driver--public payroll) June Johnson , 21, daughter-in-law John Jaecke , 28, roomer Louis Lonis , 30, roomer Note: the National Archives, particularly the US Census data from 1910, 1930, 1940 provided the information above that was not directly on the stones themselves
