Mrs. Knauss was born Dec. 17, 1906 at Missouri Valley, a daughter of William and Ella Eretha (Coakly) Cowan. As a young girl, she attended Missouri Valley High School, where she graduated in 1925. On Nov. 30, 1927, she married Lee Dewey Knauss at Logan. She was a homemaker. They lived in Council Bluffs from 1936 until 1987, when they moved to Carroll. She moved to the Carroll Health Center three years ago. She was a member of the Broadway Christian Church of Council Bluffs. Survivors include a daughter Ella Mae Hibbs and her husband. Harold of Houston, Texas; two sons. Jerald (Wes) Knauss and his wife LaVonne of Carroll and Duane Knauss and his wife Joyce, of Carroll; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lee Dewey Knauss on April 22, 1987; two sisters and six brothers.
