She was born in Crescent, Iowa, on March 15, 1921, to the late Robert and Maratha (Voss) Dilts. Almeda graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School, in Council Bluffs, in 1938. She was born in Crescent, Iowa, on March 15, 1921, to the late Robert and Maratha (Voss) Dilts. Almeda graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School, in Council Bluffs, in 1938. Almeda worked as a homemaker and alongside her husband at their Golden Horse Diner, Ewald's Drive-In and D.J.'s Restaurant before entering public service in the Pottawattamie County Assessor's Office until retirement, when she went to work part-time for the family business, Sunset Speedway, for many years. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church, in Council Bluffs. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Donald; and siblings, Evelyn, Elizabeth, Robert, Anna Mae, Clifford, Barbara and Dale. Almeda is survived by her beloved daughter, Sharon Kelley; her grandsons, Craig Kelley (Kerry) and Michael Kelley (Leesa); great-grand-children Christopher, Brendan and Caitlin Kelley; sister, Eileen Martin; sisters-in-law, Ruth Dilts and Anita Dilts; numerous nieces and nephews and many other family and friends. Her memorial service will be Wednesday, 6 p.m., at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home, in Council Bluffs. The family will receive friends during the 2 hours prior to the service.
