Adkinson, was born in Green Co., Penn. the fourteenth day of October, 1858, and departed this life at his home where he has lived the past 50 years, Tuesday, the 3rd day of July, 1934 at the age of 75 years, 8 months and 19 days. He was a young man of 18 years of age when he came to Kansas with his parents in 1877, settling on a farm 10 miles northeast of Glasco, Kansas. On the 24th day of January, 1884 he was united in marriage to Miss Eunice Jordan, and to this happy union was born one daughter. He was a kind and loving companion and father, thinking always of the happiness and comfort of those who were so dear to him. He was a great lover of children and was never happier than when surrounded by them. As a neighbor he was always ready to help those who were in trouble and in need of a friends. As such, he was highly esteemed, testimony of which is to be seen in the numbers which flocked to the aid of him whom they loved and to those who mourn his going. He leaves to mourn, besides his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Cleo Colton; one brother, George of Glasco, three sisters, Mrs. May Courtney of Delphos, and Mrs. Keziah Nelson and Mrs. Mary Akins, both of Concordia; one grand-daughter, Miss Myrtle Colton; and a host of other relatives and friends.
