Alva Washington McCoy, son of Daniel McCoy and Sarah Jane Burrier, was born in Lee County, Iowa, May 15, 1861, and was 83 years old at his death. Alva Washington McCoy, son of Daniel McCoy and Sarah Jane Burrier, was born in Lee County, Iowa, May 15, 1861, and was 83 years old at his death. He was one of a family of five children and came with his parents to Montgomery County when he was 5 years old. He was married tin Villisca in October 31, 1883 to Carrie Jane Provost and to them were born four children. They are Guy of Des Moines, an infant who died in infancy, Vernon of Glenwood, and Dennis of Center, Iowa. The wife died several years ago. In addition to his children, Mr. McCoy leaves 8 grandchildren, great grandchildren and a half brother Chas McCoy of Villisca. Villisca Review, Thursday, June 15, 1944, page 5
