MCCOY, 62, PASSES AAWAY HERE AFTER LONG ILLNESS Jessie Elmer McCoy, 62, long time resident of this vicinity, died at 10:05 a.m. Saturday at his home here in Villisca. He had been in ill health for sever cares and two weeks ago he was taken to the University Hospital in Iowa City for treatment. When it was learned that no relief could be given there, he was brought home at his own request Wednesday of last week. The body was taken Saturday morning to Wolfe & Gourley Funeral Parlors and that evening removed to the McCoy home where it remained until the hour of the funeral. Funeral rites for Mr. McCoy were held at 2 p.m. Monday in Villisca Methodist Church, with the pastor, Rev. Martin H. Keast in charge. Singing was by Mrs. Lester Scott and J. H. Todd, with Helen Bunker accompanying them at the organ. Relatives who serves as pall bearers are A. W. Charles, Fred, H. C. and Ralph McCoy, all of this vicinity, and Fred Freeland of Omaha. Burial was made in Villisca Cemetery. Jesse Elmer McCoy, son of Daniel and Mary Thompkins McCoy, was born February 2, 1870 in Page County, Iowa. He was married February 5, 1890 in Montgomery County to Miss Jessie Erkenbrack. Practically all their married life has been spent in Villisca. Two sons and two daughters were born to this union, all of whom survive their father. They are Mary, now Mrs. George Harrell of Villisca, Glen McCoy, Nodaway; Elzene, now Mrs. Fred Fryer, Villisca, and Frederick McCoy, Villisca. Mr. McCoy has spent his entire life in or near Villisca. As a youth living in the North Grove community, he united with the Methodist Church there. After moving to Villisca he engaged in business as a carpenter. Besides his wife and his children, MR. McCoy leaves four brothers, and three sisters, who are A. W. McCoy and Fred McCoy of Villisca, C. M. McCoy of southeast of here, Curt McCoy of the Guss vicinity, Mrs. Henrietta Heady of St. Joseph, Missouri, Mrs. S. B. Edwards of Villisca, and Mrs. M. M. Wise of Shenandoah.
