Description	:	Monroe McCoy, pioneer resident of of the vicinity south of Villisca died Wednesday afternoon at his home four miles south of this city, his death resulting from paralysis. He was stricken a year ago and has suffered several strokes since then. He was confined to his bed during the last ten weeks preceding his death. Mr. McOy was born in easter Iowa and was 69 years old. He came to the vicinity south of Villisca when he was a boy and spent the remainder of his life there. He was married to Catherine Moore on December 25, 1879 and to them were born two children. They are Ralph McCoy and Mrs. B. O. Negley, both residing south of Villisca. Besides his wife and children, Mr. McCoy leaves the following brothers and sisters, Fred, Omaha, Jess and Alva McCoy and S. B. Edwards, Villisca; Chas and H. C. McCoy of southeast of Villisca; Mrs. M. M. Wise of Shenandoah; and Mrs. H. C. Heady of St. Joseph, Missouri. Mr. McCoy was a member of the Fairview Church of Christ. His funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at his home and interment will be in the Villisca Cemetery. Villisca Review, Friday, August 27, 1926, page 7
