Description	:	Funeral services were held at his home 1 1/2 miles east of Gravity Sunday afternoon for Harley Curtis McCoy, formerly of the Guss vicinity, fatally injured Wednesday night of last week when the car in which he was riding with F. W. Robey of Sharpsburg, Iowa plunged over a highway embankment 3 miles northeast of Maryville Missouri. Robey also was fatally inured in the mishap. Read More	Funeral services were held at his home 1 1/2 miles east of Gravity Sunday afternoon for Harley Curtis McCoy, formerly of the Guss vicinity, fatally injured Wednesday night of last week when the car in which he was riding with F. W. Robey of Sharpsburg, Iowa plunged over a highway embankment 3 miles northeast of Maryville Missouri. Robey also was fatally inured in the mishap. The accident occurred at 7 p.m as the two men were one the way to maryville following a day of work together. Mr. McCoy who was driving, apparently failed to see a turn in the road, hit the telephone pole squarely breaking it off and then went down the embankment. There were no witnesses to the accident. Mr. McCoy died as he was being taken to a Maryville Hospital and Robey died a short time later. A highway patrolman who stopped to direct traffic around wires from a broken telephone pole on the road discovered the car in the ditch. Immediately after getting out of his car he heard a groan. He walked the 50 yards down the road and found the car. Mr. McCoy was the father of eight living children, Mrs. Ralph Andrew, Mrs. Ray Stamps, Mrs. Roy Springs, and Ted McCoy of Guss, Mrs. Harry Cooney of near Nodaway, Alva McCoy of Gravity, Harley McCoy of near Essex, and Donald at home. His wife and four brothers and sisters, Charles and Alva McCoy and Mrs. S. B. Edwards of Villisca, and Mrs. Manley Wise of Berkeley, California, also survive. the Rev. Lewis Kongable of Nodaway was in charge of the funeral service. He died from injuries to brain and lung, Chas D. Humbad, M.D. and coroner of Nodaway County, Missouri. Burial in Villisca Cemetery, Floyd Shum, undertaker, Bedford, Iowa. Informant was Teddie Oliver McCoy, Villisca, Iowa He was married to Maud Myrtle Negley.
