Description	:	Alvin John William Bargen, the son of Carl A. and Mary Katherine (Grummert) Bargen, was born on October 27, 1912 on the family farm near Superior, Nebraska. He passed away on January 10, 2006 at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska at the age of 93 years, 2 months and 13 days. Alvin was baptized on November 24, 1912 by Rev. A. Meyries and was confirmed on May 9, 1926 by Rev. A. Schult at the Salem Lutheran Church where he was a life time member. He passed away on January 10, 2006 at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska at the age of 93 years, 2 months and 13 days. Alvin was baptized on November 24, 1912 by Rev. A. Meyries and was confirmed on May 9, 1926 by Rev. A. Schult at the Salem Lutheran Church where he was a life time member. He attended Smyrna rural school through the 8th grade then worked on the family farm. As a teenager he worked in the sugar beet fields in Rupert, Idaho and for Paul Rathbun for several years in the late 30's. On January 16, 1949 he was united in marriage to Wava Sperry at Salem Lutheran Church, Superior, Nebraska. This union was blessed with 5 children. They made their home north of Superior on one of the family farms until they moved to Hardy, Nebraska. During the depression years of the 1930's, Alvin farmed and also worked for the State of Nebraska bridge crew when they were building the new Highway 14. He also trucked livestock from 1939 to 1978 and continued to farm. He was a District 72 former school board member. He entered the Nelson Good Samaritan Center on February 14, 2005 where he resided until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Wava on August 21, 1996; son, Larry Joe; 3 brothers, Eilert, Freddie and Carl and one sister, Ruby Wilton. Survivors include sons, Lowell and wife Myrna currently traveling; Terry and wife JoAnna of Superior, Nebraska; and 2 daughters, Pam Beale and husband Marvin of Shickley, Nebraska and Cheryl Mohler and husband Carl of Superior, Nebraska; 9 grandchildren, Brad Bargen and wife Dawn; Christine Franks and husband Matt and Tammy Bargen all of Lincoln, Nebraska; April Schiermeyer and husband Daren of Hardy, Nebraska; Amanda Johnson and husband Tom of Hastings, Nebraska; Amy Beale of Grand Island, Nebraska; Christopher Mohler and wife Alicea of Superior, Nebraska; Brandy Rogers and husband Eric of Juniata, Nebraska and Justin Mohler of York, Nebraska; 15 great-grandchildren and 2 brothers, Orlin and wife Blanche and Leland and wife Lyda all of Superior, Nebraska; nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held on Friday, January 13, 2006 at from the Salem Lutheran Church in Rural Superior, Nebraska with Rev. Barbara Bauer officiating. Music was congregational singing "Nearer the Cross", " He Leadeth Me" and "Amazing Grace", with Sonia Schmidt as organist. Pallbearers were Vaughn Bargen, Steve Grummert, Lonnie Bargen, Kevin Bargen, Kent Bargen and Roger Amack. Honorary Pallbearers were Denny Wilton, Vic Bargen and Alan Hornbussell.
