Mrs. Bargen, a long-time resident of the Superior community, died Saturday evening at the Nuckolls County Hospital. The obituary: Katharine Caroline Marie Grummert, daughter of Frederick and Katharine Titkemeier Grummert, was born Sept. 21, 1886, in Jefferson County, Nebraska. She was baptized by Pastor Julius Kaiser on Oct. 3, 1886, in the home of her parents with Marie Grummert and Caroline Rohlfing as sponsors. During her childhood she was instructed in the Christian faith and confirmed on March 31, 1901, in Peace Lutheran Church, Jefferson County, Nebraska, by Pastor W. Wittke. In the spring of 1893, she moved to Nuckolls County with her parents, two brothers and two sisters. She had been a resident of this county since that time except for the time she lived with her grandparents during confirmation instruction. She was also a long-time member of Salem Lutheran Church, Superior, originally Smyrna, Neb. On April 3, 1907, she was united in marriage to Carl Edward Bargen at Smyrna, Neb., by Pastor A. Meyries. To this union seven children were born. Mrs. Bargen entered the Nuckolls County Hospital on Sept. 27. She suffered a sever stroke early Saturday evening, Oct. 4, 1969, and died later in the evening at the age of 83 years and 13 days. Her husband preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1966. Others preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters, one brother and two grandchildren. Surviving are her six sons and one daughter, Eilert, Alvin, Fredrick, Carl, Mrs. Clarence Wilton (Ruby), Orlin and Leland, all of Superior; 21 grandchildren; one great grandchild; one sister, Miss Emma Grummert; three brothers, Henry Grummert, Fred J. Grummert and Arthur Grummert, all of Superior; one aunt, Mrs. Mary Mueller, Nelson; and a host of other relatives and friends. Rev. George Feistner officiated at the services and burial was in the church cemetery.
