Read More	Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Salem Lutheran Church north of Superior for Carl Edward Bargen, who died early in the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 6 days. He had been a resident of Nuckolls County for 65 years. Carl Edward Bargen, son of Eilert and Anna Gerdes Bargen, was born April 10, 1884, in Godens, Germany. He was one of ten children. He was baptized and later was insructed in the Christian faith and spoke his confirmation vows in Germany. In 1900 he came to the United States and spent the last 65 years of his life in Nuckolls County, Nebraska. He was a long-time member of Salem Lutheran Church, Superior. On April 3, 1907, he was united in marriage to Marie Grummert at Smyrna, Neb., by Pastor A. Meyries. To this union seven children were born. Surviving are his wife, Marie, six sons and one daughter, Eilert E., Alvin J., Frederick D., Carl A., Mrs. Clarence Wilton (Ruby), Orlin W., and Leland G., all of Superior; 21 grandchildren; three brothers, John of Superior, Eilert of Nora, and Frederick in Germany; one sister, Mrs. Johanna Taddigs in Germany, and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and a brother in Germany, a brother, Dietrick (sic) (Dick) Bargen, of Nelson and two grandsons, Larry Joe Bargen and an infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence C. Wilton. Rev. Paul Kenyon officiated at the service Saturday and burial was in the church cemetery. The Megrue Funeral Home was in charge of arrangments.
